Today we went to the Embera tribe. It was a very unique experience. Upon reflection many of us thought that it was sad how they were being exploited and that they didn't seem to enjoy their dances. Many of the children didn't know their own language, just Spanish. Admittedly that isn't bad, but by not learning their language they lose a HUGE part of their culture.
On the positive side, being that close to nature, in such pure fashion was spectacular. I wish we could have paddled the canoes, but it is a lot of work and that doesn't usually go over well for tourists/travelers. Being in a canoe that literally was a tree before was pretty cool also. Everyone enjoyed the waterfall and hanging out in the little "pool" area of the river. No one got injured although a few people were adventurous and climbed up way past the point they were supposed to. One person did get bit by some ants and had a nasty swell to go with it.
I think overall it wasn't a bad day at all, just a bit long, but that is very normal for any type of trip like this.
