Day 4-Rahul Dasari

Today was a day that I will never forget in my life. It has nothing to do with the items donated and the events planned at Casa Esperanza but the fact that I met some of the most loving children that shared a part of themselves with me. We managed to only meet the children at Casa Esperanza for maybe a total of four to five hours and somehow I managed to get so attatched to them that it was almost painful to leave today. March 17, which is today, is St. Patricks day and to celebrate it the villa group collaborated last night to create a party/game. The children seemed to love it, and there is almost no better feeling that watching a smile grow on a child's face. Everyone had a positive attitude towards Casa Esperanza and not only volunteered for the sake of volunteering but because we all loved what we were doing.

As much as I had fun today pretty much just being a kid, I will remember how blessed I am to have life with so many freedoms and luxuries. There are days when I wake up for school and feel tired of going because of all the homework and tests but the children at Casa Esperanza have a vigor to learn and receive and education. I think I have so much going on in my life but the fact is that there are so many people in the world that have problems that I cannot even imagine and that with what I have been blessed with I should at least put effort to make a step to improving our world condition even if it is by doing the smallest things such as the Big Brother Big Sister Program or any other organization like that. In a world that seems to be filled with war, illnesses, corruption, and poverty places like Casa Esperanza give me hope that the world has the ability to take care of itself because of the kindness and dedication of the exceptional few.

I am honored to be in the villa group, not to say that the hostel group is lame, but I've gotten to know the members of my group and completely satisfied with how everything is working out. Every member is unique and has something important to say. The ability for everyone to play a part in the making of the St. Patrick's Day Party was magical. Finally, I just enjoy hanging out with them, they are interesting and are making this trip as good as it is.
